Spider-Man is my favourite superhero, not because I’m overly fond of spiders, because I empathise with Peter Parker, he’s someone I can relate to. Growing up I read Spider-Man, consumed the animated series on repeat…I knew the lore inside and out. Spider-Man was at its best when the stakes were high and that was never more the case than when the symbiotes were involved. Both Venom and Carnage have been two of my favourite Marvel characters since I came across them all those years back and I’m looking forward to seeing how this new variation will stack up (especially after Toby McGuire’s Spider-Man 3 and the poor version of Venom they had).
Although this trailer doesn’t show us much, or any glimpse of the suit (curse you Sony you tease) it was still enough to grab my interest. The Eddie Brock version is not my favourite Venom but it is the original. I prefer Agent Venom/Flash Thompson personally as his dynamic with the symbiote is similar to that of the Hulk and Bruce Banner. He has to stay level headed to remain in control. Although I wish Marvel were directly involved with this more after the stellar job they did partnering with Sony Pictures for Spider-Man: Homecoming, where newbie Tom Holland smashed it as Spider-Man, I will definitely be going to see this.
