Blade Runner 2 Release Moved Closer

The original release window for Blade Runner 2 raised a few eyebrows. It was set for early January 2018 which would have made Star Wars Episode VIII it’s box office rival, which would not have been a smart move for any film, even for a sequel to a movie as well loved and as anticipated as this. Thankfully the studio have seen sense and the new release is going to be October 6th 2017…but this raises new problems.

From the release schedule it is clear to see that this new date will pit it against an untitled Marvel film and an untitled ‘significant event film’ by Warner Bros. Of course a film like this was always going to clash with something with great films coming out regularly now, but going up against two big budget films backed by Marvel and Warner Bros makes me nervous. Still this might not be an issue at all, if one or both of these other films have their release windows moved also.

Harrison Ford is returning as Rick Deckard and the cast also includes Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista (who played Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy). Denis Villeneuve is directing with the original Director, Ridley Scott, taking on the role of Executive Producer.
